Just after posting about Malaysia’s Proton R&D‘s Wira 1.5L car engined bike, where I wondered if Proton R&D engineers were watching too much American Chopper, I stumbled upon these images of a bike with a V8 engine stuffed in! The site asks if Ghost Rider were Russian, wouldn’t he ride this? To me it looks more like something out of some post-apocalyptic ‘Mad Max’ type movie. Put together by some maniac techno-genius after the world is decimated by atomic war/zombie holocaust/plague/famine/etc or ridden by a crazed member of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, perhaps!

Sadly, IMHO the owner went further and turned it into a sidecar setup with some ‘dainty’ colours and fibreglass parts, which to my eyes softens the entire hard-edged DIY ratbike/survival bike theme seen in these pictures. The engineering looks innovative, with hub-centric steering on the front wheel similar to that on the Bimota Tesi and on the much smaller capacity Italjet Formula. Could this be the largest capacity bike in the world with hub-centric steering? The rear tyre looks like its for automotive use and wouldn’t be much help when banking, but it must be said that the builder later added a sidecar setup to this bike.

Yamaha Motor UK is proud to, once again, sponsor Dave Coates – Stunt Rider extreme! Dave, pictured standing on the right, from Darlington, has just take delivery of his new Yamaha FZ1 and YZF-R1, from Stockton Yamaha dealer Tillston Motorcycles. Gary Jordinson (standing left) from the dealership was pleased to hand over the machines on behalf of YMUK.

Dave’s stunt show is one of the best in the business, performing crowd pleasing stunts including wheelies, backwards riding and skiing off the back of the machine. His main aim is to entertain – he is a real showman. ‘I really enjoy performing in front of a big crowd. The more they cheer, the more I want to do. The highlight of last year was entertaining the Centenary TT crowd. Late summer evening sun and rubber smoke certainly go a long way to create an amazing atmosphere!’ said Dave.

During 2008, he will be taking his Yamahas to display at events such as dealer open days, Isle of Man TT, Cheshire Oaks Motor Festival, Bikewise (Durham), some British Superbike rounds and Santa Pod amongst many other local events.

There’s a new digital comic book in town – The Many Worlds Of Jonas Moore, created by Factory Publishing in association with Triumph Motorcycles. It stars British actor Colin Salmon, whom we’ve seen in movies like Resident Evil, Aliens Vs. Predator, James Bond, etc. and Worlds Apart singer Steve Hart, who also wrote the score. The concept was created and directed by Howard Webster.

This new form of media is set in an alternative universe where everyone is addicted to online games, Jonas Moore is a self-aware character who can move between games with the help of a real-world programmer, Professor Kansu Tao, one of the original designers of the network and its original role playing games, is dying in hospital. Jonas Moore must go on the run, pursued by the network and its lethal defence protocols. His only hope is to run, escaping from one virtual game world to the next until the dying Professor Tao can reprogramme the network’s security system and restore him to his game world and let him live.

Fans are also invited to animate and score their own adventures. See the website for more information. Characters appear to ride Triumph Motorcycles and wear Triumph apparel.
