The guys at Bike Exif have posted a wonderful article about how the bike(s) were prepared in Los Angeles by Justin Kell of Glory Motor Works. Kell came with the concept of having a bike that would seem logical for a person of Lisbeth Salander‘s (played by Rooney Mara) age to own. The bike they ended up building was based on a late 60s Honda CB350. 3 examples were made for the movie.
