Just a few days ago I wrote about Yamalube, Yamaha‘s range of motor oils. I’m proud to announce that Yamalube is now available in the United Kingdom.
Yamaha have announced the availability of their own quality oil brand, developed specifically by Yamaha, for Yamahas. It was apparent that there was a need for an oil that had better qualities than those currently available, so Yamaha engineers specified an oil that would give better engine life with improved performance – the result? Yamalube!
This genuine lube range has been available for their marine products for some time now and the motorcycle range has been sold in the US with some success in previous years. Now in Europe, the Yamalube brand is being aggressively marketed including the use of the product in Valentino Rossi’s M1 Yamaha MotoGP machine.
Available through Yamaha’s authorised dealer network, along with a complete range of four stroke oils and a synthetic 2-stroke oil, customers can get Yamalube care-line products such as cleaning spray, polish, chain lube (including handy travel version) and helmet care products.
More information on this new range and all of Yamaha’s extensive selection of genuine accessories click on www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/accessories.

2008 will see Yamaha’s principal factory racing teams hit the circuits of the world with Yamalube as an important part of the technical set-up; drawing the bridge between works machinery and production motorcycles even closer.
The Fiat Yamaha MotoGP squad, Yamaha World Supersport Team and the Yamaha Motocross Team have all reached multi-year agreements to embrace the use of Yamalube for their 2008 competitive campaigns.
The Yamalube range has already been used by Yamaha and their factory motocross effort since 2005 and in that time two world championships have been won by the team. Yamalube already has a long-standing racing tradition in non European countries such as North America and Australia.
With a legendary reputation built on countless victories, Yamaha is the name trusted to deliver ‘Quality before anything’; and the company’s oils are no different.
Yamalube was born to provide the finest quality oil for Yamaha engines; from the very same team who engineered and created the technology. The marine world has already benefited since the mid-1990s and enjoys wide European distribution. The motorcycle market was targeted in 2005 and Yamalube can be found in fifteen European countries with more to follow in 2008.
Yamalube is the only line of oils that lives up to Yamaha’s stringent standards for excellence and performance with formulations that are engine and application specific. This bold and pro-active link with the firm’s premier racing teams now welcomes the long awaited pan-European introduction of these high-tech lubricants.
The Yamalube line-up consists of two-stroke semi-synthetic oils to four-stroke mineral, semi and full synthetic. The choice of lubricants is also augmented by a spectrum of other cleansing and care products such as helmet and visor Ph neutral liquid, paint and plastic polish, shield and silicon spray and platinum chain sprays and gels.
The name “Yamalube” may not be too polite here in Malaysia though. But then again, who knows .. the novelty of buying YAMALUBE might just push up sales!

Using synthetic lubricant in two-stroke motorcycles could help to improve air quality in urban areas according to the RMI’s Motorcycle Retailers Association (MRA).
The type of lubricant oil used in an engine has a direct impact on emissions, and synthetic oil already provides good environmental performance for larger-engine motorcycles. However, two-stroke bike engine emissions could be reduced by 50 per cent if synthetic lubricant was used.
Mike Owen, Head of the MRA commented: ‘The use of synthetic lubricants in two-stroke engine bikes could help contribute to a better and cleaner environment.‘
Owen explains: ‘Many of the smaller bikes preferred by urban commuters have two-stroke engines. At present these can travel into the London congestion zone without incurring the charge, but the movement towards an emissions based congestion charge could mean that smaller bikes also have to pay to get into the congestion zone. This could greatly reduce the popularity of bikes as a viable commuter option.
‘If riders were encouraged to take up synthetic lubricant, it could help to keep these bikes outside of the charge.’
The MRA is supporting a Europe-wide campaign by The Motorcycle Community in Europe (MCC) to encourage the use of synthetic lubricant in two-stroke bikes.
The campaign* is also intended to safeguard the mobility of two-stroke engine users in congested city centres.
Owen added: ‘We think that the message is something that retailers will want to help communicate to their customers.’ *More information about MCC’s campaign is available at www.usesyntheticoil.info
