The new Tom Cruise movie “Oblivion” has some pretty awesome vehicles set in a gritty post-apocalyptic world. Cruise’s character Jack rides a white folding bike across a deserted landscape in the movie.
Based on a Honda CRF450X, Glory Motor Works, headed by Justin Kell worked on the bike, building three units for Cruise and his stunt doubles to ride. The company has also supplied motorcycles for movies like “The Master”, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and “GI Joe”.
Motorcycle, rider, miracle of birth. All shot on a Nikon D800. By ‘Sandro‘.
I’ve been curious about the bike used in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie ever since the trailer came out, with a Trent Reznor version of Led Zeppelin‘s “Immigrant Song” playing. The guys at Bike Exif have posted a wonderful article about how the bike(s) were prepared in Los Angeles by Justin Kell of Glory Motor Works. Kell came with the concept of having a bike that would seem logical for a person of Lisbeth Salander‘s (played by Rooney Mara) age to own. The bike they ended up building was based on a late 60s Honda CB350. 3 examples were made for the movie.
A star of the 1986 Tokyo Motor Show, the Suzuki Nuda was a fully operational concept motorbike powered by a GSX-R750 engine. It was an awesome 2-wheel drive machine, with power was transferred to both wheels via single sided swingarms housing shaft drives. Hub-centre steering was similar to the production Bimota Tesi 2D. What’s most amazing is that it could be ridden!
Closest thing we’ll ever get to a TRON light cycle? What do you think?
For the motorcycles used in Sylvester Stallone‘s latest movie – The Expendables, Stallone went to Bourget’s Bike Works as well as other bikes from the Easyriders Show and Cycle Source Chopper Show during “Bike Week New Orleans“.
Expendables is about an expendable team of mercenaries who head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator. The movie also stars Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis and Steve Austin.
“I personally chose all of the bikes,” said Stallone. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also in the film, although the governor shot his scenes in California. Jean-Claude Van Damme was reported to have been personally offered a role by Stallone, but turned it down because he felt there was no substance to the character.
Star Trek is a 2009 science fiction film directed by J. J. Abrams and written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. It is the eleventh film based on the Star Trek franchise and features the main characters of the original Star Trek series, who are portrayed by a brand new cast.
The film uses the concept of time travel to introduce an alternate timeline that revises the continuity of the original series and the previous movies. It explores the previously unexplored origin stories of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto), before they unite aboard the USS Enterprise to combat Nero (a heavily disguised Eric Bana), a Romulan from the future who threatens the United Federation of Planets and Earth itself!
Growing up without his father, Kirk becomes an intelligent, reckless, and cynical young man. However, as many intelligent but reckless and cynical young man do, he rides a motorcycle. Not just any motorcycle, mind you but some sort of futuristic, hub-less, spoke-less non-internal combustion engine model.

The latest movie in the Terminator series is the upcoming “Terminator Salvation“, starring Christian Bale. While there will be lots of different Terminators, one model we’re especially looking forward to see is the “Moto-Terminator” seen in the trailer.
In Dubai recently, the second annual Cinema Against AIDS charity auction raised US$1.8 million. Among the celebrity audience were Goldie Hawn, Salma Hayek, Oliver Stone, Sharon Stone and Laura Linney, but to name a few.
Highest selling item of the night? None other than the “Terminator Salvation” premiere package which contained tickets to the premiere as well as the “Moto-Terminator” from the movie. The price? US$$140,000. I wonder who that lucky guy in Dubai who owns this bike is, and will he be riding it!??

Hell Ride, a movie by Quentin Tarantino has the usual trademark sex, drugs, rock & roll and bikes. It’s about bad guys vs. even badder guys! One of the characters, Machete, (who happens to be one of the ‘even badder’ baddies) played by Francesco Quinn, son of legendary actor Anthony Quinn rides his own motorcycle, customised of course, in the movie. The producers took his 2006 Honda VTX1300 to Honda VP Ray Blank for a movie makeover. They painted the bike flat black and spilled gasoline over the paintjob, rubbing it in with a rag to give it a used and abused look. Also added were a Cobra exhaust, unique triple-beam headlights, Kellerman BL 1000 bar-end signals, K&N filter and jet kit. As you read this, the bike would have probably been signed by Francesco and auctioned off for charity. How’s this for a movie chopper? A Honda? Looks like the producers wanted something just a bit different from the usual Harleys and Indians normally used in this genre. Don’t worry, you’ll find plenty of those too.

Have you watched Dark Knight yet? At about 155 minutes it’s a really good movie to watch. The vehicles in the movie are pretty well built, and I just stumbled upon this amazing look at the technology behind Batman‘s BatPod bike.

QUENTIN TARANTINO PRESENTS: HELL RIDE
Presented by Quentin Tarantino, written and directed by Larry Bishop, Hell Ride is a raucous throwback to the days of the Sergio Leone spaghetti western, with a heaping helping of testosterone-fueled chopper action thrown into the mix, writer/director Larry Bishop takes on a third role as Pistolero, head honcho of the Victors, a group of badass bikers who are out to avenge the murder of one of their members at the hands of the 666ers, a rival gang whose actions live up to their hellish moniker.
Along with his cohorts, the Gent (deviously portrayed by Michael Madsen) and the mysterious Comanche (Eric Balfour), Pistolero aims to take down the Deuce and Billy Wings, menacing leaders of the 666ers, but a mutiny looms on the horizon when his commitment to profit is questioned by a few of his fellow Victors. An even larger story unravels when previously unknown information about Comanche resurrects ghosts from Pistolero’s past.
Hell Ride also stars Michael Beach, Vinnie Jones, Dennis Hopper, David Carradine and Natasha Yi.
